From 19 to 21 May 2025, POWERBASE participated in the CERIS Disaster Resilience Days in Brussels, an important annual event organised by the European Commission to bring together projects and stakeholders working on disaster risk reduction, crisis response, and societal resilience.
As part of the event, POWERBASE contributed to discussions on enhancing the resilience of first responders through innovation procurement. Our project focuses on identifying the needs of civil protection authorities and emergency services for low-emission, mobile, and self-sufficient energy solutions for bases of operations and emergency shelters. These solutions are essential to enable effective response in remote or disrupted environments where energy access is limited.
Engaging with fellow projects, policymakers, and end users at CERIS provided a valuable opportunity to share our initial findings and align our work with broader EU resilience strategies. The POWERBASE team also gathered valuable feedback to inform the next stages of the project, particularly our upcoming state-of-the-art analysis and innovation procurement roadmap.
We thank the CERIS team and all participants for the inspiring exchange and look forward to continued collaboration across the disaster resilience community.
