The POWERBASE project was excited to take part in the CERIS Project to Policy Seminar, held in Brussels on June 4-5, 2025, and organised by the Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS) under the European Commission’s DG HOME.

The seminar brought together representatives from EU-funded research projects, policymakers, practitioners, and industry to explore how research outcomes can effectively inform EU policy and operational practices in the field of civil security. It provided a valuable platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration.

As a project focused on supporting emergency response organisations through the future procurement of reliable, mobile, and low-emission energy solutions, POWERBASE contributed to the discussions around capability gaps, innovation needs, and sustainable solutions for first responders operating in the field.

Participation in the CERIS seminar allowed the POWERBASE team to:

  • Present the project’s objectives and its strategy to identify end-user needs and the technology landscape
  • Connect with other EU-funded initiatives working on complementary security challenges
  • Gain insights into policy developments that may shape future innovation procurement pathways
  • Provide input on prioritising policy objectives
  • Strategies to enhance the project´s dissemination and exploitation

We thank the organisers for hosting this timely and impactful event. Ensuring that research and innovation are guided by practical needs and aligned with policy priorities is essential to building a safer, more resilient, and more sustainable Europe.
