Just one day after the successful Open Market Consultation (OMC) event in Brussels, the POWERBASE consortium reconvened for its General Assembly (GA) meeting on 13 June 2025. The GA brought together all partners to take stock of project progress, plan ahead, and build on the valuable insights gathered during the OMC.
During the GA meeting, all work packages presented their accomplishments, ongoing efforts and tasks ahead.
Reflecting on the OMC and Planning Next Steps
An important element of the GA meeting were reflections on the OMC event, which offered a unique opportunity to engage with industry stakeholders and suppliers of mobile, low-emission energy solutions. The feedback gathered during the OMC has been instrumental in validating the projectās needs and refining steps towards future procurement.
Strengthening Procurement Capacity with a Focus on IPR
A key highlight of the meeting was a dedicated procurement training session, organised by legal partner VIEIRA. The session focused specifically on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the context of innovation procurement. Topics included:
- Different kinds of IPR, definition of foreground and background IP.
-
IPR allocation and management in PCP contracts
-
Balancing innovation incentives with public benefit
This training gave important insights into the legal and strategic complexities of innovation procurement, a potential next step of the POWERBASE project.
A Productive Milestone
The GA meeting marked an important milestone for the project, combining the momentum of external market dialogue with internal planning and knowledge-building. With a clearer roadmap and stronger procurement capabilities, POWERBASE is advancing toward its mission: to identify and procure sustainable energy solutions for emergency response operations across Europe.
Stay tuned for further updates as we move into the next phase of the project!
