From 7-12 September 2025, the POWERBASE project actively participated in a NATO exercise held in Sofia, Bulgaria. The exercise provided a unique opportunity to engage with a wide range of civil protection and disaster response organizations and to collect valuable feedback for the project’s upcoming energy solutions.

During the event, the POWERBASE team gathered input on the operational and functional requirements for a mobile, renewable energy power supply system that will be developed within the project. Particular attention was given to aspects such as:

  • Efficiency
  • Performance
  • Scalability
  • Interoperability
  • Mobility

Data was collected through a combination of methods, including questionnaires, short oral interviews, and informal discussions during the waiting times at the Bases of Operation of different organizations.

The insights obtained during this NATO exercise will be instrumental in ensuring that the POWERBASE solutions are fit-for-purpose, user-driven, and aligned with real operational needs in disaster and emergency response.

By working closely with practitioners in the field, POWERBASE aims to deliver energy systems that not only reduce emissions but also strengthen resilience and sustainability in crisis operations.
